2G scam: BJP for JPC probe

Senior BJP leader and Rajya Sabha member M. Venkaiah Naidu has reiterated the demand for constituting a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) to probe 2G spectrum allocation and urged the government to initiate measures for smooth conduct of Parliament.

Addressing a press conference here on Sunday, he asked the government to concede dignifiedly the Opposition demand. He said the tendencies of arrogance and stubbornness had reached their zenith under UPA-II, which was a dangerous sign for democracy.

While the Opposition was seeking action, the government was thinking of ending it through debate. There was no instance of the government responding on corruption without agitation by the Opposition.

Disillusionment

From its own allies to the common man, everyone was disillusioned with the government. He said democracy was facing a threat following 2G spectrum allocation scandal and urged all parties, irrespective of political differences, to come together to fight corruption.

He condemned the lathicharge on MRPS activists when they tried to force their way towards Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy's residence and Assembly. Replying to a question, he said the quitting of Congress by Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy was a blow to that party.

The Congress party was also aware of that and it would take time for its leaders to accept the fact.
