16 of four gangs held for credit card fraud

The Cyberabad police on Tuesday arrested 16 persons of four separate gangs on charges of cheating several people to the tune of ₹ 2.39 crore by misusing credit cards.

Cyberabad Commissioner of Police V.C. Sajjanar said that the arrested also cheated a GHMC Corporator of ₹ 1 lakh. Among the arrested includes a deputy paramedical officer with Medical and Health Department, Guntur, for attesting the fake documents including pay slips, ID proofs, address proofs, which were used to obtain credit cards.

“We recovered around ₹ 4 lakh in cash, ₹ 76 lakh from their bank accounts, 108 pan cards and nearly 200 credit cards of various private and public sector banks,” Mr Sajjanar said.
