Fifteen juveniles in conflict with law escaped from a correctional home in Saidabad in the wee hours of Sunday.
The minors, held at the facility for their alleged role in crimes ranging from murder to robbery, cut the iron grills of a window and broke out of their dormitories. They then scaled the compound wall and escaped from the facility around 2 a.m. The incident came to light on Sunday morning, and the police were alerted in the afternoon. “We are investigating the incident. The boys that escaped are aged between 15 and 17 years,” said Saidabad Police Inspector K. Sattaiah.
The incident prompted an inquiry by the Juvenile Welfare and Correctional Services wing of the Women and Child Development Department of the State government. By late Sunday, two children were located, the department’s officials said.
