The mysterious disappearance of a techie from Saroornagar here six weeks ago turned out to be a case of kidnap and murder by the family of his facebook-friend-turned-lover.

The victim, Satish, was murdered by his lover Lavanya's father Yadaiah and his associate, Raju Goud, on February 1 after abducting him from Ameerpet, police said on Thursday.

While the two killers were caught, Lavanya, her mother Manikyam and cousin Sravan, who misled the police by concealing facts about the killing, are still at large, Saroorangar ACP J. Amarender Reddy said.

Satish who hails from Ramagundam of Karimnagar district befriended Lavanya, an engineering student from Borabanda in city, online while he was doing a software course in Hyderabad three years ago. The friendship soon blossomed into love and the two youngsters used to meet regularly.

Satish later got a job in Wipro, Bangalore, but continued to meet her whenever he visited the city.

This was not to the liking of her parents, who issued a stern warning that he would be killed if he continues the friendship.

However, Satish met Lavanya in a shop in Ameerpet on February 1 and was seen by Sravan who called up her parents. Her father Yadaiah and his associate Raju Goud rushed there and dragged the techie into their car. They drove towards Kokkonda reserve forest area on Rajiv Rahadari, took him to a secluded place and beat him to death, the police officer said.

Later, they burnt the body using petrol and diesel.

Two days later, they drove to the place again, collected the burnt remnants of the body in a tarpaulin bag and threw them in drainage in Qutbullahpur on city outskirts.

Meanwhile, Satish's father Shankaraiah reported to police that his son was missing. The police questioned Lavanya based on the call records of his mobile phone.

She was, however, let off as the investigators “didn't find any clues”. On Thursday, they picked up Yadaiah and Raju on a tip-off and recovered the tarpaulin bag containing the body's burnt remnants based on their confession.
