Kite clubs from 31 countries, domestic clubs, and students from 35 schools participated in the second international kite festival that was inaugurated on Friday by Minister for Tourism Azmeera Chandulal at Agakhan Academy at Maheswaram.
The festival will reach Yadagirigutta and Warangal too this year, and plans are on to conduct it all over the State, the Minister informed. The festival will be conducted at Agakhan Academy up to January 15, and at Yadagirigutta on January 16 and at Warangal on January 17, Secretary, Tourism, B.Venkatesham informed.
The State has already outdone Gujarat, which has been conducting the festival for a long time, he said, and vowed that within the coming five years, Telangana will be an international destination for the kite festival, he said.
Deputy Chief Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali, chairperson of the Legislative Council K. Swamy Goud, Minister for Animal Husbandry Talasani Srinivas Yadav, and others participated in the inaugural event.
