A young man from the North-Eastern State of Nagaland was allegedly stabbed when he objected to two young men teasing his cousin in the Safdarjung Enclave area here on Tuesday.
The boy, identified as Limasutsung, was returning home from a walk along with his cousin around 7-30 a.m. when two men, in their early 20s, allegedly passed lewd remarks at his cousin near the Hero Honda showroom in Safdarjung Enclave market.
According to the First Information Report registered by the Safdarjung Enclave police on the complaint of the woman victim, when Limasutsung raised objection to the passing of lewd comments by the young men, one of them allegedly caught him while the other stabbed him in the stomach.
The FIR also mentions that it was the girl who took injured Limasutsung to Sukhmani Hospital.
A case has been registered under Section 326 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt) and 509 (word, gesture intended to insult the modesty of a woman) of the Indian Penal Code.
The complainant, who presently stays in Arjun Nagar, has said in the FIR that she could identify the assailants.
According to the police, in a statement later Limasutsung said he had a fight with his cousin over some issue in the morning following which he inflicted injuries upon himself. Thereafter, the two allegedly panicked and concocted the story. A senior police officer said that Limasutsung was out of danger now and that the FIR was registered after the hospital authorities informed the police about a man with stab injuries being admitted to the hospital.
Incidentally, the North-East Support Centre and Helpline was not aware of the incident. Its spokesperson Madhu Chandra said they had not received any call about this from the victims. “I have received several calls, but I am completely unaware of any such happening.”
