The incident happened on Monday evening when Vijaydeep (in pic) left home to celebrate his friend’s birthday at a restobar in the city.

“Both of you stay at home. It is my turn to take care of you and will fulfil all the needs,” Vijaydeep Singh who was stabbed to death by a DJ at a restobar had told this to his parents.

After the 30-year-old deceased’s father Harjinder Singh lost his left eye and a finger on his right hand while on job around three years back, their family went through a bad phase. Their financial status got better after Vijaydeep started to earn good.

‘Never got into fights’

“The family is decent and they have never heard Vijaydeep or his younger brother get into any brawl. They all are very humble people,” said Rajinder, a neighbour.

“We were looking for a better match for Vijaydeep’s wedding. The family had plans to visit the house of prospective bride’s on Wednesday. After years of struggle, he was doing well in business. He had opened a gym around three years back and recently had opened another gym. He had asked his father and me not to worry as he will fix everything,” said the deceased’s mother, Rani.

Vijaydeep’s younger brother who helped him in managing the gym is not speaking to anyone after the incident, the family said.

“Vijaydeep had recently installed an AC at his parent room and told his father not to think about any work. He wanted his parents to stay at home. He was providing us with all the facilities that we were deprived of due to financial crisis,” his mother added.

Vijaydeep had left home on Monday evening to celebrate one of friend’s birthday at a restobar.

Stabbed in abdomen

A fight broke out between the vitcim’s friends and the club’s DJ over playing a song. Following this, the DJ stabbed Vijaydeep with a kitchen knife in his lower abdomen. He was rushed to a hospital where the doctors declared him brought dead.

“We can never think that Vijaydeep will pick up fight with any one because he was only focused about his business [gym]. This is very unfortunate,” said another neighbour.
