In yet another case of a juvenile being involved in a gang-rape in Delhi, a minor girl was assaulted by a 19-year-old boy living in her neighbourhood in Mayur Vihar in East Delhi and his friend on Friday.

The police said the 15-year-old girl was alone at home on Friday when the teenager allegedly overpowered her along with a minor boy and raped her. Based on a complaint, the police have registered a case and arrested the accused. The minor boy has also been apprehended for abetting the crime.

As per “explanation 1” of Section 376 of the Indian Penal Code, “where a woman is raped by one or more in a group of persons acting in furtherance of their common intention, each of the persons shall be deemed to have committed gang-rape within the meaning of this sub-section”.

The police have confirmed that the minor accused had “helped” the main accused in committing the crime. He will be produced before the Juvenile Justice Board.

In another case, the police received a complaint from a woman alleging that her 42-year-old husband had sexually assaulted their seven-year-old daughter on January 3.

“Based on the complaint and subsequent probe, we have registered a case under Section 377 [unnatural sex] of the Indian Penal Code and arrested the father,” said a police officer.

In yet another case, the police arrested one Harendra, a resident of Trilokpuri, for allegedly having misbehaving with a 28-year-old woman near Rajghat in Central Delhi on Sunday. The victim was waiting for her husband at a bus shelter around 11 a.m. when the accused passed lewd remarks at her. Some policemen deployed nearby overpowered him and he was later booked for the offence.
