With the Yamuna flowing above the danger mark again, the Delhi government on Tuesday ordered the implementation of precautionary measures, including issuing instructions to evacuate residents from low-lying areas.

The Flood and Irrigation Control Department said that the Yamuna’s level at the Delhi Railway Bridge was 205.3 metres at 8 p.m. on Tuesday. The danger mark is 204.83 metres.

At a meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Anshu Prakash, government departments and agencies were instructed to put in place precautionary measures.

Officials have been told to be ready to come to work on Wednesday, which is otherwise a holiday on account of Independence Day.
