The video clip of a group of women confronting a woman inside a shopping mall for allegedly making unsavoury comments on their short dress and instigating men to rape them has gone viral.

Video goes viral

With the video shared more than 29,000 times in less than 24 hours, has received more than a thousand comments supporting the women.

The incident took place at Nukkadwala restaurant in Sector 48 here on Tuesday. The women decided to follow the lady to a home furnishings store, confront her and seek her apology. The entire conversation was recorded on the mobile phone and the video was then uploaded on Faceboo

No formal police complaint has been made in the case so far. Some of the comments online read: “She has to much ego to apologize...i hate auntys”, “I wish i was thr at shoping center woudl have bashed this lady writ away”, “More power to you. What you all did is totally corret!” and “Hats off to you girls!!!”.

Recalling the incident on her Facebook page, the woman, targeted by the lady for wearing the short dress, wrote: “Hey guys. Today my friends and I were harassed by a woman at a restaurant for me wearing a short dress. This middle aged woman you’ll see in the video addressed seven men at the restaurant to rape us because she felt we deserved it for wearing short clothes and bashing her unsolicited opinion...we took her on at a shopping centre, nearby. We gave her the chance to apologise, to no avail, of course [sic]”.

In the video, a woman can be seen supporting the victim and her friends and asking the woman to apologise. Another woman can be seen arguing that if short dress had been the reason for rapes, then why were the toddlers and elderly women raped. But the lady, in no mood to relent, justified her comments and also threatened to call the police.

Nukkadwala CEO and co-founder, Nitika Kapur said, “Yes, we are aware of the incident. The girls who came in are regulars at the outlet. The lady had a certain kind of mindset. We don’t know what triggered her outburst. The manager did request her to kindly calm down since they could not ask her to leave out of respect. Following the outburst, they allowed the group of women to take their food to the upper floor. The restaurant has also extended their support to the girls who had been shamed.”
