A 20-year-old woman was allegedly raped by two men in a park in south-east Delhi’s Sunlight Colony on Sunday night, the police said on Tuesday. The police have registered a case but no arrests have been made so far.

A senior police officer said that the victim was found in a semi-conscious state in a park near Sarai Kale Khan by passersby who had come for a walk on Monday morning. When the police reached the spot, the victim was rushed to AIIMS Trauma Centre where she is undergoing treatment. External injuries were found on her body, sources said.

During investigation, it has been revealed that the woman, a beggar who used to sleep on the footpath near Sarai Kale Khan, was on her usual spot when the two accused came and offered her food. They allegedly took her inside the park where they took turns to rape her and fled the spot.

The police said the victim appears to be mentally unfit and she is being counselled.

The two accused also reside nearby and are suspected to be ragpickers, sources said. Teams have been formed to nab the two, the officer said.
