A 26-year-old woman alleged that she was gang raped by three men in Shahdara’s Anand Vihar on Monday evening. The police have arrested one person in connection with the case and identified the others.
A senior officer privy to the case said they received a PCR call from a passer-by around 7.30 p.m. when he saw the woman crying on the road, where the accused, identified as Amit, was also present.
Police said, the woman, separated from her husband and a resident of Faridabad, had come to meet the accused regarding job. “The woman alleged that Amit and his two friends raped her. Her medical examination was conducted and based on the complaint, an FIR under Section 376D [gang rape] has been registered,” the officer said.
The accused Amit, a trader in UP’s Baghpat, was arrested from the spot, the police said. “The other two have been identified and their role is being ascertained,” the officer said.
