A woman has accused her sister’s husband of raping her on the pretext of marriage.

Marriage promise

She has alleged that her brother-in-law sexually exploited her several times during her stay at his home in Dankaur last year. He allegedly promised to make her his wife but later married her off to a man in Bulandshahr.

According to the police, the woman gave birth to a boy in Bulandshahr after five months of marriage. This resulted in a tiff between the woman and her husband, and he disowned her and the newborn.

Dankaur police station SHO Farmood Ali Pundir said, “According to herstatement, her brother-in-law exploited her sexually on the pretext of marriage, but in May this year she was married off to a man in Bulandshahr.”

In the dark

Her husband and in-laws were not told about her pregnancy at the time of marriage, the police said.

“Ten days ago, she delivered a baby boy. Her husband refused to accept the child and asked her to leave his house. Now the woman and her baby are staying with her parents in Delhi,” Mr. Pundir said.

“Since the alleged offence was committed last year, we will first investigate into her allegations and then register a case into the matter. We are probing the complaint from all angles,” Mr. Pundir added.
