A 35-year-old woman was allegedly gang-raped in a moving car by three men, who abducted her from Gurugram on Monday night and dumped her in Greater Noida’s Kasna on Tuesday morning.

The victim told the police that she was walking near her home in Sohna when she was dragged inside the sedan by the men and assaulted for nearly eight hours. The woman, who is a native of Bharatpur in Rajasthan, had come to Gurugram to meet a relative a few days ago. She lives with her family in Sohna.

‘Drove through Delhi’

The woman said the accused took turns to rape her and they reached Greater Noida after driving through Delhi. The men, she added, threw her in a dark corner in Greater Noida on Tuesday morning and sped away.

Gurugram Police Commissioner Sandeep Khirwar, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Sumit Kuhar, and DCP (East) Deepak Saharan were present at Gurugram’s Sector 29 police station, where the woman recorded her statement in the presence of a female lawyer.

Case shifted to Noida

However, a first information report was lodged at Kasna police station as the Gurugram police refused to lodge a case. “We didn’t register the case in Sector 29 police station in Gurugram as the matter doesn’t belong to us. We have returned the matter to the Noida police,” Sector 29 police station incharge Vikas Kaushik said.

Gautam Budh Nagar Senior Superintendent of Police Love Kumar said the FIR was lodged at Kasna police station and the matter is being investigated by the Greater Noida police. Initially, it was believed that she was abducted from Sohna but the Noida police later said she was abducted near Gurugram’s M.G. Road.

PCR call at 4 a.m.

Mr. Kumar said the matter came to light when a passerby called up the police control room received around 4 a.m. about a woman lying on the road near a restaurant that falls under Kasna police station.

A police team was dispatched to the scene and the victim was taken to a private hospital nearby. Some beer bottles were also allegedly seen at the spot.

“We have sent a team to Sohna to coordinate with the local police. We are investigating to identify and arrest the accused,” Mr. Kumar said.
