“The robbers visited the shop a few days back posing as customer and during that visit, the shop owner had got their number for business purposes. We analysed the call records of the shop owner and identified a few numbers. Based on technical surveillance, Mangal was held from Rampur on Sunday,” said Seju P. Kuruvilla, DCP (Outer).

During interrogation, Mangal disclosed that Rahul, Rajesh and two other persons from UP were also involved in the robbery. Three persons entered the shop to rob the unit while two others were waiting in a van parked outside the shop.

The robbed wigs were hidden at Ajay’s residence in East Delhi. On interrogation, Ajay disclosed the location of the wigs and the police recovered the material from Ganesh Nagar. The weapon used in the crime was also recovered.

Mr. Kuruvilla said that the victims used to buy human hair from various temples, including Tirupati temple, after auctioning and quality check.

Ajay was also in the same business and he was aware that he would get good money for the wigs.
