Where’s our money, asks South MCD

June 13, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:35 am IST - NEW DELHI:

Left out in the financial aid given to the North and East civic bodies, the South Delhi Municipal Corporation said on Friday that the Delhi Government was trying to destabilise it.

Mayor Subhash Arya said: “It is an attempt to destabilise the SDMC. The Delhi Government is playing politics by not implementing the Fourth Finance Commission Report, which gives municipalities a bigger share of funds.”

Mr. Arya said without the funds the pension and salary liabilities would push it into an unstable position. The SDMC was owed Rs.475.33 crore in global share of assigned taxes, but Rs.87.04 crore is still pending. A total of Rs.391 crore as municipal reform fund and Rs. 120.65 crore for education grant is also due.
