The victim of the Uber rape case has stood by her earlier statement that accused Shiv Kumar Yadav had sexually assaulted her inside his cab while driving her home last December.

She remained consistent on it while recording her evidence as well as during her cross-examination by counsel for the accused on Friday.

Earlier, she had made this charge before a Metropolitan Magistrate while recording her statement under Section 164 of the Criminal Procedure Code, which is admissible as evidence.

She gave the evidence before Additional Sessions Judge Kaveri Baweja who is conducting trial of the case. The trial began on Thursday. It is being conducted in-camera and on day-to-day basis.

The victim also identified Yadav, who was present before the court during the trial, as the person who sexually assaulted, threatened and slapped her. During her cross-examination, the victim denied the suggestion by the counsel of the accused that she was not sexually assaulted. Her cross-examination will continue on Saturday.

The accused is facing trial under Sections 376(2) (m) (while committing rape causing grievous bodily harm or endangering life of a woman), 366 (kidnapping or abducting woman), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) of the IPC.
