A 16-year-old girl was alleged molested by a vagabond near Hanuman temple in Connaught Place on Monday evening, the police said on Wednesday. The accused was arrested late on Monday.

A senior police officer said that the accused has been identified as Shankar (22). “The minor victim, who stays in the area, said that the accused had touched her inappropriately, after which she raised an alarm. The victim then informed a local about the incident who further informed the beat staff patrolling nearby,” the officer said. The accused was arrested a few hours later with the help of local intelligence.

A case has been registered and further investigation is under way.
