Hotels and farmhouses surrounding the airport that are hot venues for hosting celebrations as they offer large open spaces will no longer be allowed to use laser lights as part of decor and stage setup.

Taking note of the distraction caused due to the use of such lights to the pilots while landing or taking off, the South West District Administration has issued directions to the organisers of such functions as well as owners of venues adjoining the Indira Gandhi International Airport banning the use of such lights. Ankur Garg, District Magistrate (South-West Delhi) said that the pilots had written to Air Traffic Control and subsequently Delhi International Airport Limited requested District Magistrate, New Delhi office on the basis of which MCD was also directed.

In separate orders issued under Section 144 of Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) by SDM (Kapashera) Harleen Kaur and SDM (Najafgarh) Aman Gupta, the area SHO has been directed to serve these orders to the organisers of such functions, as well as managers or owners of such properties. Mr. Garg added that any activity which causes any confusion or difficulty to the pilots would not be allowed as the safety of the passengers in the flight is paramount.
