The Ghaziabad police on Tuesday claimed to have busted two sex rackets in the district following raids at two places, one of them a hotel owned by a former BSP office bearer, and detention of six women and 13 men.

The police said the hotel belongs to BSP’s former zonal coordinator Kamal Singh Jatav, who is absconding since the raid.

BSP local leaders denied having any contact with the hotel owner and said he was sacked from the party months ago.

The hotel was raided following a tip-off about a sex racket being run in the area falling under Sihani Gate police station. Five men and six women were allegedly found in compromising position in the hotel. They, along with two hotel employees, have been detained, and the hotel has been sealed, said Superintendent of Police (City) Aakash Tomar.

Ram Prasad Pradhan, BSP’s Ghaziabad district president, said that Jatav was sacked from the party before the Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls as he was found to be involved in anti-party activities.

House raided

The second raid was carried out at a house in Karhera village of Sahibabad near Hindon Air Force Station where two women and four men were detained.

The police said that during the questioning of some of the hotel staff, they got some more information of other persons involved in the racket.

CCTV footage

According to the police, people from Delhi-NCR used to visit the hotels. They are scanning the CCTV footage and visitors’ record to get more information about the racket. “A manhunt is on to nab the other culprits,” said Deputy Superintendent of Police Maneesh Mishra.

Raids are also being conducted in UP-NCR and other parts to nab the hotel owner and the hotel manager identified as Vinay.

Jatav’s hotel used to charge Rs.1,200 to Rs.5,000 from the customers and it had been running for the last 10 years, the police added.
