Two minor boys — aged 10 and 11 — have been apprehended for sexually assaulting a five-year-old girl in south-west Delhi’s Kapashera on Monday, the police said on Thursday.
A senior police officer said that the victim and the accused are residents of the same colony and the incident happened when the girl was playing in a nearby park.
“The accused caught hold of her and took turns to sexually assault her. Meanwhile, the mother of the victim reached the park to check on her. Seeing her, the accused fled,” the officer said.
The mother then called the police who reached the spot and took the victim to a hospital where her medical examination was conducted. The victim was discharged the next day.
The accused were also apprehended on Tuesday and sent to juvenile home, the police said.
A case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act has been registered and further investigation into the matter is under way, the police added.
