A 30-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman were killed after their motorcycle hit jersey barrier on Golf Course Road in the small hours of Tuesday, the police said.

High speed

Kevin Martin was a marketing executive with a two-wheeler company, while Anvita Kant worked with a multinational technology company.

They were returning from a party in DLF Phase-IV around 1 a.m. when their bike hit jersey barriers at Genpact Chowk at high speed, causing it to skid for several metres.

The impact threw the victims into the air.

While Kevin hit another jersey barrier and broke his neck, Anvita was thrown several feet away and died due to excessive bleeding.

A few passers-by called the police control room and took the injured persons to a private hospital before the police reached the spot.

The victims were declared brought dead by the doctors.

“Kevin, who was driving the two-wheeler, was wearing a helmet. But it is unclear if Anvita was wearing a helmet or not,” said Gurugram Police spokesperson Subhash Boken.

The locals alleged that the accident spot was not properly lit and the barriers did not have reflectors.

The police, however, denied the allegations.

They suspect that the victims were negotiating a turn towards Faridabad at the time of the accident.

Kevin, who belonged to Mangalore, was working with Royal Enfield in Sector 32 for the past over two years. He was staying at a rented accommodation in Sector 56. His parents live in Mumbai.

Anvita, who had joined Google over a month ago, lived in a paying guest accommodation in DLF Phase-V. Her family stays in Faridabad Sector 22.

Her father is a doctor at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Delhi.

The two-wheeler was registered at Tamil Nadu.

The police said the bodies were handed over to their families after the post-mortem.
