Two persons have been arrested for allegedly duping people of ₹7 crore by posing as insurance officials, police said on Wednesday.
The accused, Madhuvendra Singh alias Sanjay (31), and Renu Pandey alias Rashi Pandey (29), targeted hundreds of people, said the police.
“The accused said they used to call people on behalf of IRDA officials and tell them that their insurance policy has been selected for a bonus and that if they want the bonus, they have to deposit money in a particular account,” said Aslam Khan, DCP (North-West).
