Three persons, including two delivery boys with an e-commerce company, were arrested for replacing items with marble in Outer district’s Mianwali on Thursday, the police said.

The arrested have been identified as Vipin, Harish Singh and Swabhiman, the police said, adding that they all are residents of Mangolpuri, they said. Vipin and Harish were working as the company’s delivery boy.

‘Address not found’

“The Mianwali Nagar police station received a tip-off that some delivery boys of an e-commerce company replace items booked by the customers and deposit the parcel to delivery depot with the comment ‘address could not be traced’,” said Delhi Police Commissioner (Outer) Seju P. Kuruvilla.

A team was formed under the supervision of Assistant Commissioner of Police (Paschim Vihar) Akansha Yadav to trace the accused.

During interrogation, it was found that Vipin and Harish used to handover the online ordered items to Swabhiman who in turn replaced the inside product with marbles and repacked the parcel. Following this, Vipin and Harish used to deposit the parcel at the delivery depot stating that the customer’s address could not be found, the police said.

In a few such instances, they have ordered mobile phones on fake addresses and then deposit it to the company’s warehouse after replacing the parcel with marble. “Swabhiman sold the items in Rohini. They have sold around 11 mobile phones out of which six have been recovered. Also, two wristwatches and a Bluetooth device have also been recovered,” added the officer.
