A group of friends partying at their rented accommodation were attacked by another group living in the same building for allegedly playing music too loud, in west Delhi’s Naraina, the police said on Monday. The accused have been arrested, they said.

The police said that they received a call around 11 p.m. on Sunday night regarding a scuffle at a building in Naraina. A police team reached the spot and took the injured persons to a hospital. One of the injured had sustained stab injuries, while another was hit with a cooking utensil, they said.

During investigation, it was found that Vikas Thakur, who works as a cab driver, was partying in his room with his friend Bajrang Thakur and Gopal Thakur. Shimbhu Mehto, who lives in a room opposite to Mr. Vikas’, was also partying with his friends. Around 11 p.m., Mr. Shimbhu went to Mr. Vikas’ room and objected to the loud music that they were playing and threatened of dire consequences if they did not switch off the music player.

“Vikas, however, continued to party with his friends. Shimbhu came back along with his friends Sushil and Khanda after 20 minutes and an argument ensued between the two parties,” said a police officer.

Mr. Shimbhu, meanwhile, picked up an utensil from the room and hit Mr. Vikas on the head, while Mr. Sushil took one kitchen knife and stabbed Mr. Gopal in the abdomen. The attackers then fled the spot,” added a police officer.

Mr. Vikas’ roommate informed the police about the incident. An FIR under relevant sections of the IPC was registered at Naraina police station. The injured are currently undergoing treatment at a hospital and the doctor has said that they are out of danger.

“We have arrested Sushil, Shimbhu and Sunil from a location in Naraina. The knife and the kitchen utensil used in the attack has been recovered. The accused work in Naraina industrial area,” added the police officer.
