A Central Reserve Police Force constable was mowed down by a speeding truck in Rohini district’s Alipur, the police said on Tuesday. The accused has been arrested, they said.

DCP (Rohini) Rajneesh Gupta said Dileep Kumar (37) belonged to Uttar Pradesh’s Gorakhpur. Accused Paramjeet Singh is a resident of Punjab’s Hoshiarpur. The victim, who was posted in Vikaspuri, was on his way to work on his motorcycle when the incident happened.

“He was going from the service lane to the main road when he came under the truck,” said Mr. Gupta, adding that the truck dragged him for a few metres. A motorcycle rider who was behind the truck stopped the offending vehicle and called the police. He pulled the victim out with help from locals. A case has been registered.
