Traffic signals consume power worth 6.5 lakh per month

Nearly Rs.6.5 lakh is spent every month on electricity consumption for traffic signals/blinkers installed in the Capital, the Lok Sabha was informed on Tuesday.

Minister of State for Home Haribhai Parthibhai Chaudhary said traffic signals in Delhi are run on electricity.

“An amount of nearly Rs 6.5 lakh (approximately) is incurred in a month on electricity consumption for traffic signals/blinkers installed in NCT of Delhi,” Mr. Chaudhary said in a reply to a written question.

According to the Traffic Police, there are 857 traffic signals and 401 traffic blinkers in Delhi. — PTI
