For south Delhi motorists, the traffic situation in the coming days may seem like a futile effort to break down Jose Mourinho “parking the bus” tactic. During the Under-17 World Cup match days, commuters will find several roads closed for general traffic.
Four days
With Jawaharlal Nehru (JLN) Stadium in south Delhi as one of the six venues hosting the World Cup in the country, traffic restrictions and possible inconvenience for motorists will be between 2 p.m. and 11 p.m. on these four days, the Delhi Police said on Wednesday.
The Capital will host four matches, the first of which will be played on Friday, followed by games on October 9, 12 and 16.
During these days, totally closed for general traffic will be parts of CGO Road, DAVP Road, Bhishma Pitamah Marg and the service lanes surrounding the stadium where all the matches will be held.
Nearby roads
This may swell up the traffic on nearby roads such as Lodhi Road, Aurobindo Marg, Lala Lajpat Rai Marg as well as Ring Road.
With two of the matches being held on Monday and all four on weekdays, the police are sweating it out to manage smooth flow of traffic with restrictions on because these roads lead to many offices.
Public transport
They have urged spectators to use public transport, particularly the Delhi Metro, as the venue is very close to two metro stations on the Violet Line.
