Tourist’s camera snatched, recovered

The camera was worth over ₹5 lakh

A tourist from Belarus was allegedly robbed of her digital camera by two youths at Humayun’s tomb on Tuesday afternoon. The accused have been arrested and the camera returned to the owner, the police said on Wednesday.

Nine hours

Deputy Commissioner of Police (south-east) Romil Baaniya said the case was solved within nine hours.

Volha Thomus was at Humayun’s tomb with her husband around 1 p.m. when the duo snatched her camera, worth over ₹5 lakh, and fled.

She raised an alarm and informed the local police. Two teams were formed and about 50 persons previously involved in similar crimes were questioned. Samad (22) and Salman (21) were identified and arrested from their Nizamuddin basti homes, the police said.

Ms. Thomus, a photographer by profession, left for her country on Wednesday.
