Three school friends have been arrested for allegedly killing two persons over personal issues, the police said on Saturday.
DCP (Dwarka) Anto Alphonse said Mayank Yadav (22), Kapil (19) and Sachin Gulia (25) were nabbed before they could execute their plan to kill another man. On October 26, the police claimed to have received a call in Bahadurgarh police station regarding a man being shot dead. On reaching the spot, the man was identified as Sunny Dabla. A few hours later, another call was received in Chhawla police station regarding another man being shot at. The victim was identified as Jitender alias Jeetu who succumbed to injuries during treatment, said an officer.
The police obtained CCTV footage and trailed the movement of a few suspects. It was ascertained that the same suspects were involved in both the murder cases.
On Saturday morning, the police received a tip-off that the suspects would come to Chhawla to kill another person, Mr. Alphonse said. A trap was then laid and they were arrested.
During interrogation, Mayank said he is pursuing graduation in pharmacy and his father is a government employee but due to bad company, he often bunked classes. “My mother had arranged a marriage for Jitender with my cousin sister. Soon, the relationship between the couple turned sour and my sister came back home. My mother was continuously blamed by the family for the mismatch. Jitender also taunted me that he will choose his wife according to his ‘taste’,” Mayank told the police. This enraged him and he decided to kill Jitender, the police added.
Kapil allegedly told the police that his brother had a fight with Sunny last year after which the latter threatened their family to leave the village. The family then left the village after which Kapil discussed the matter with his friend Naveen who said he would help him, the police said. Sachin said he is a BCA graduate and used to work in a call centre. He said he was in a relationship with a girl who left him for a man named Robin and he wanted to take revenge. The accused were arrested when they were on their way to kill Robin, the police added.
All three friends on Dussehra had planned to eliminate their respective enemies. Kapil offered to execute the killings because he could not help with finances while Mayank and Sachin pooled in money to buy weapons and Naveen arranged for vehicles and arms.
Teams are looking for Naveen, the police added.
