Three members of Neeraj Bawana gang were arrested on Wednesday for their alleged involvement in attacking a businessman in Mahindra Park, the police said on Thursday.

The Inter-border gang’s investigation squad of crime branch made the arrests. They recovered two automatic US-made pistols, one countrymade pistol, six cartridges and stolen car from their possession.

The arrested have been identified as Vaasu Sharma, Sarjeev, and Yogesh, the police said.

On June 7, Vaasu had got parole in a double murder case dated 2015. He jumped the parole and planned for a robbery to arrange money for his sister’s marriage.

On August 11, the three accused had opened fire at a businessman in Mahindra Park, said Deputy Commissioner of Police, Bhisham Singh. They had fled the spot after the incident.

Tip-off

On August 26, the police received a tip-off stating that the accused will come to Sector-14, Dwarka metro station, in a stolen car.

They laid a trap and all three suspects were nabbed. The car was also seized, the police added.

“A case under appropriate sections of law was registered and the accused were arrested,” the police said.

During interrogation, Vaasu disclosed that after jumping parole, he had stolen a car from Shahbad Dairy.

After this, he along with his associate Sarjeev and others fired gunshots to terrorise a businessman. The accused wanted to establish supremacy in the area, the police added.

“The persons arrested with Vaasu were also involved in several cases of robbery and extortion,” said a senior police officer.
