Three murders reported from across city

A 27-year-old man who tried to stop a person for brandishing a weapon and abusing was shot dead in east Delhi’s Kalyan Puri on Tuesday. The accused has been arrested, said the police.

A senior police officer said that the deceased has been identified as Jaspal, a resident of the area. “The incident took place around 5 a.m. Two men had come to Kalyan Puri on a bike and the pillion rider, Guddu, was brandishing a pistol and hurling abuses. Jaspal asked them what they were doing,” he said.

The police said that Jaspal caught hold of Guddu. After an argument, Guddu fired a shot in Jaspal’s direction and tried flee but was caught by locals and handed over to police. His associate fled from the spot, the officer said, adding that Jaspal was taken to a nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead.

During interrogation, Guddu said that he had lent ₹2 lakh to a person who lives in Kalyan Puri and had come to ask for the money. He was abusing the person when Jaspal came and an argument ensued.

In another incident reported from Rohini’s Prem Nagar, a 22-year-old man was shot dead by a few men after an argument over consumption of liquor on Monday. The police said that the victim has been identified as Ashish, who was living in Prem Nagar with his partner.

Police said that Ashish was involved in smuggling of illicit liquor and on Monday around 8 p.m., an argument broke out between him and some people over consuming liquor, following which one of the accused shot him in the stomach. He was rushed to a hospital where he was declared brought dead. The accused have been identified and efforts are on to nab them, said the police.

In a third incident, reported from Outer Delhi’s Mundka, a man identified as Manjeet (45) was shot dead when he was sleeping in the fields on Saturday night around 11 p.m. According to the victim’s employee, who was sleeping nearby, one person got out from a car and shot Manjeet in the forehead and fled. The police have registered a case and begun a probe.
