Three held for killing man to take revenge

Three persons were arrested for killing a man, whose kin allegedly assaulted one of the accused, in south Delhi’s Sangam Vihar, officers said on Thursday.

According to DCP (Special Cell) Jasmeet Singh, the accused were identified as Mohd. Rashid, 43, Deepak, 32, and Rohit, 22.

According to the DCP, on April 10, the accused persons, all armed with firearms and lathis, reached Rahul’s meat shop in Sangam Vihar and allegedly thrashed and shot dead his uncle Hukum Singh and also beat up the workers there. However, Rahul, who was their main target, escaped without any injuries, officers said.

The DCP said that on Wednesday, the police were tipped off that Rashid and Deepak would come near the Khanpur traffic signal on MB Road between 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. to meet one of their associates, following which a trap was laid and the accused were nabbed.

During interrogation, the accused told that they wanted to exact revenge as Rahul and his family members had allegedly beaten up Mohd. Rashid and his associates late last month, the police said.

The three accused were also previously involved in ten cases, including murder, extortion and attempt to murder, among others, the DCP added.
