The magic of Urdu poetry

: Bringing the best of contemporary Urdu poetry to the city, a mushaira (poetic symposium) ‘Jashn-e-Bahar’ is being organised at the Delhi Public School, Mathura Road, on February 5. Poets from Pakistan, UAE, USA and Canada will join poets from India to fill the cool winter air with the magic of poetry.

The annual event , which draws over 5,000 enthusiasts on a single evening, has played a key role in keeping the love for poetry alive. The event is being organised by the non-profit Jashn-e-Bahar Trust.

The poets regaling the audiences include Amjad Islam Amjad, Abbas Tabish, Rehana Roohi and Pirzada Qasim from Pakistan, Farhat Shahzad from the USA, Zamin Jafri from Canada and Zubair Farooq from Dubai.

India will be represented by Wasim Barelvi, Naseem Nikhat, Nusrat Mehdi, Farhat Ehsas, Popular Meeruthi, Johny Foster, Dipti Mishra and Aalok Srivastava. Eminent poet Mansoor Usmani will conduct the mushaira.

The event begins at 6 p.m.
