Congress MP Shashi Tharoor may be questioned again in connection with his wife Sunanda Pushkar’s mysterious death, Delhi Police Commissioner B.S. Bassi said on Tuesday.

Mr. Tharoor has already been questioned by the SIT once. He was also questioned by the police on January 19 for nearly four hours in South Delhi’s Vasant Vihar.

“The SIT is probing the case continuously. Whatever is necessary, they have been doing. I am sure if they need to question anyone again, they will do that and do that soon,” Mr. Bassi told journalists here, when asked when would Mr. Tharoor be questioned again.

Sources said the SIT is likely to question the former Minister this week as they got very “little time” with him on January 19.

They also said that as he was the “closest relative” of the deceased at the spot when she was found dead, he may be questioned several times as the SIT will want to ask him about things that will arise following examination of other witnesses.

The 52-year-old was found dead in a hotel room on January 17 last year. The Delhi Police filed a case of murder on January 1 and an SIT was formed to probe the case.

Since then, the police have questioned a number of people in connection with the case, including the domestic aides of Mr. Tharoor, the hotel staff, family friend Sanjay Dewan and the hotel doctor who pronounced her dead. — PTI
