A man has been arrested for allegedly strangulating a 15-year-old boy in north-west Delhi’s Jahangirpuri, the police said on Saturday.

DCP (North-West) Aslam Khan said Rajkumar (25) was arrested on Saturday, days after he tried to mislead the police. He has a criminal record, the police said.

The boy had gone missing on August 26 following which his parents approached the police and a case of kidnapping was registered.

Meanwhile, the victim’s body was found in a sack on KN Katju Marg, the police said.

During investigation, Rajkumar allegedly said, “I will help you find him in three days. I have clues but will not share till they are developed,” he said.

This made the investigators suspicious. A senior police officer said Rajkumar allegedly told police to check the CCTV footage in a direction opposite to what he took to dump the body.

Personal enmity

During sustained interrogation, he confessed to the crime. The accused allegedly told the police that he committed the crime as he had a personal enmity with the teenager’s mother.

Rajkumar had abducted the boy, the officer said, adding, “He strangulated him and put his body in a sack. Then, he drove to KN Katju Marg to dump the body.”

He allegedly told police that he killed the boy as an outcome of personal enmity with the boy’s mother.
