AAP Chief Arvind Kejriwal while taking out his first roadshow during the party’s election campaign in Delhi on Wednesday, asked voters not to deny money given by other political parties, but urged them to vote for AAP.

‘Don’t deny it’

“On the night of election, do they [other political parties] come to give money or not? What will you do? Take it, don’t deny it, but vote for Jhadu ,” Mr. Kejriwal said, while addressing a gathering at L Block in Wazirpur JJ cluster, around 8 p.m. on Wednesday. But the AAP chief did not mention the BJP or the Congress in his speech.

Mr. Kejriwal had made a similar remark during the 2015 Delhi Assembly election and it became controversial with both the BJP and the Congress attacking him.

Attack on Modi

Mr. Kejriwal attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said he was blocking development works in Delhi. “If our seven MPs go to Parliament, Modi won’t have the courage to stop our files,” Mr. Kejriwal said, while addressing a roadshow in Lal Bagh in Model Town.

The AAP-led government has been alleging that the BJP has been creating roadblocks in their development works through Central government-approved L-G.

“Harsh Vardhan is the MP here and you won’t even know that. He hasn’t not even come to ask for vote. This time, vote for AAP and make us more strong. If our seven MPs reach the Central government, our strength will increase and all of your pending work will happen,” he said.

Urging people to vote for AAP, the Delhi Chief Minister also said that he wants to build hospitals and lay pipelines to bring water for them, but Mr. Modi was stopping him. Mr. Kejriwal travelled in an open jeep along with AAP Chandni Chowk candidate Pankaj Gupta and Health Minister Satyendar Jain, among others. Amidst drum beats and showering of flowers and AAP’s poll song demanding full statehood blaring out of speakers, the AAP chief moved from one area to another, surrounded by hundreds of party workers.

Mr. Kejriwal waved, smiled and showed victory sign to the people waiting on the streets and on their balconies, who were trying to catch a glimpse of the leader.

‘BJP’s bid to poach MLAs’

The roadshow started around 6 p.m. from Lal Bagh and went to Shastri Park and Wazipur JJ cluster and was under way at the time of filing this report.

“In the last three days, seven of our MLAs have said that the BJP people have contacted them and offered ₹10 crore to break them. This is not becoming of a Prime Minister,” he said.

“Day before yesterday, the Prime Minister said he will buy 40 MLAs of Mamata Banerjee and will lead to the fall of her government. Does it show Prime Minister in a good light? It’s wrong to buy MLAs of elected government and pull them down,” he said during the roadshow.
