SSC paper leak: four arrested

In a joint operation on Tuesday night, the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) and the Delhi Police arrested four youth involved in online hacking of Staff Selection Commission (SSC) exam.

The arrested were identified as Ajay Kumar, Gaurav, Sonu Singh and Param. They all are residents of Timarpur in north Delhi.

“They were arrested during a joint raid of UP STF and Special Staff of North district. We have recovered a laptop, 10 mobile phones, three cars, mobile dongles, important documents and ₹51 lakh cash from their possession,” said a senior police officer.

The officer confirmed that the arrested were involved in online hacking of Data Entry Operator exam conducted by the SSC. The UP STF gathered specific information regarding the online leak of examination and contacted the Delhi Police. Later, in a joint operation, the youth were arrested from a house in Gandhi Nagar in Timarpur.

“During interrogation, the accused confessed to involvement in the online hacking of the SSC exam. They used to charge ₹10-15 lakh from each candidate for clearing the examination,” added the police officer.

He added the gang was active in north India. They used to help the SSC candidate via software installed in computers. There are many others members in the gang who used to help SSC candidates for money.

An FIR of cheating under the IT Act has been registered at Timarpur police station. The investigation is under way, police said.
