Fresh trouble is brewing for Congress leader Rambir Shokeen who is in the process of being declared a proclaimed offender by a city court based on a plea filed against him by the Delhi Police.

A senior official from the Delhi Police’s Special Cell said Mr. Shokeen, a former independent MLA from Mundka, now had less than 30 days to make himself available for questioning in a case filed against him under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act.

The case pertains to his alleged links with recently-arrestedgangsterNeeraj Bawana in addition to the recovery of a cache of arms which the police claim were recovered from one of his properties.

“The court has been informed about the fact that Mr. Shokeen is absconding despite a non-bailable warrant against him, and is not cooperating in the investigation,” the official said.

“Following this, an order was issued against him by the court and he now has till the end of this month to make himself available to us failing which he will be declared a proclaimed offender,” the official added.
