June 12, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:34 am IST - FARIDABAD:

In a blatant show of muscle power, around 150 men entered the premises of Old Faridabad police station and allegedly manhandled the Station House Officer and some other personnel when they tried to mediate a dispute between two groups.

The incident happened on Wednesday night when SHO Bhartender Singh, who was on the upper floor of the police station, heard some people quarrelling in the ground floor.

He found about 150 men standing in the courtyard of the police station, and a group of six men and a woman and another of 25 men standing on the other side of the gallery and abusing them. When Mr. Singh enquired about the matter, the group of six men and a woman alleged that the other group was threatening to abduct their son and kill him, a senior police official said.

When, Mr. Singh tried to mediate, the other group became aggressive and demanded the officer to throw the woman and her family outside, so that the mob could teach them a lesson. When he asked them not to take law into their hand, the group allegedly manhandled the SHO and some of his men. In the farcas, Mr. Singh’s uniform was torn.

The situation was brought under control when the additional force arrived and 11 people were arrested.— PTI
