A school teacher who had allegedly been raping a student for the past few years has been arrested at Hauz Qazi in Central Delhi. The teacher had been blackmailing the victim, threatening to make public her obscene photographs.

The victim was in junior school when Shailendra Kumar taught her. Initially, he used to take her to the school’s computer room on some pretext and molest her. In her complaint, the girl alleged that he would kiss her. He also gave her his mobile phone number, asking her to call him.

A few years ago, the accused took her to a hotel in Connaught Place where he raped her for the first time. Thereafter he would take her to different hotels in Paharganj and Connaught Place and sexually abuse her. He also threatened to make public obscene photographs taken by him through his mobile phone camera and also upload it onto the Internet. Scared of the consequences, the girl kept her mouth shut.

The 17-year-old girl dropped out of Class IX about four months ago and had been staying at home. The last time she was taken to a hotel room and again raped by the teacher six months ago. The accused again threatened to upload her photograph onto the Internet if she did not cooperate and take his calls.

The incident came to light when the teacher called up the victim’s mobile phone and it was answered by her elder sister. The accused spoke in intimate terms, not realising that it was her elder sister on the other side.

The sister then confronted the victim who narrated the entire episode to her. Subsequently a complaint was lodged at the Hauz Qazi police station and a case registered, on the basis of which the teacher has been arrested.

In another incident, a 45-year-old man allegedly raped his 16-year-old daughter at his house in Prasad Nagar here earlier this week. The matter came to light when the victim narrated the incident to her mother, who then called up the police. Based on the complaint, the police registered a case and arrested the father. The accused works for a private company.
