A petition seeking a direction to the Centre to ensure implementation of guidelines issued by the Ministry of Human Resource Development in 2014 for safety and well-being of schoolchildren, will be taken up for hearing by the SC on Friday.

The plea sought a direction to the Ministry to fix the responsibility, liability and accountability of the principal and the management of the schools in case of any untoward incidents.

The latest petition has also sought a direction to fix a reasonable compensation for parents of a child in case of a mishap in a school.
