The Directorate of Education on Friday issued guidelines for nursery admissions (KG to Class III) to Delhi government’s Schools of Excellence for the academic session 2019-20.

Each School of Excellence will have three sections of nursery of 25 students each.

The government said that children will be admitted to these classes based on neighbourhood criteria and through draw of lots. The criteria for neighbourhood areas will be as per the distance approved by the SMC and DDE (District).

25% for EWS/DG

“Of the total seats, 25% are reserved for EWS/ DG category. Priority will be given to siblings as per neighbourhood criteria for general category. Details of vacant seats will be available on the school’s notice board,” the DoE said.

Speaking about the age limit for admissions, the DoE said, children, who have completed three years of age as on March 31, 2019, can apply for admission to LKG, while those who have completed 4 years may apply for UKG admission. For Class I, the age limit is five years and six and seven years for Class II and Class III.

An age relaxation of up to one month may be granted by the heads of schools in the maximum as well as minimum age, the DoE added.

The DoE said that the admission window will be open from March 11 to March 18. The draw of lots for unreserved seats will be held at the School of Excellence on March 23. The list of selected candidates will be displayed on March 27 and submission and verification of documents of selected applicants will take place on March 28. A residential proof must be submitted at the time of registration, said the DoE.

Application forms along with guidelines are available on the department’s website.
