The Delhi University Teachers’ Association (DUTA) has called for a series of agitations that will start with a march to the Parliament to put pressure on the Central government to come out with an ordinance before the announcement of the Lok Sabha election to solve the issue of Reservation Roster.

Over thirty organisations of teachers, students and non-teaching employees from universities, colleges and schools from across the country, under the aegis of the Joint Forum for Movement on Education, will be converging for the march on Tuesday to highlight their concerns about the crisis in public-funded education, the DUTA said.

The teachers’ body also plans to form a human chain at North Campus on February 25 as well to highlight the crisis in the university, conduct a candle light vigil on February 26 at Mandi House to highlight demands for an Ordinance on the Reservation Roster and regulation of one-time absorption of ad hoc and temporary teachers.

The teachers have then decided to call for a university strike at Delhi University between February 27 and March 1 if their demands are not met.
