The Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) has appealed to all the women and girls, who have been sharing their experiences as a part of the #MeToo campaign, to also report the incidents of sexual assault to the police and the commission.

It said that the reporting will pave the path for putting the sexual predators behind the bars, something that should have been done long ago.

In a statement on Sunday, the DCW said, “The commission is deeply moved by the rising number of women and girls narrating their horrific ordeals with sexual predators through the MeToo campaign. It has taken a lot of courage for women and girls to narrate the incidents of sexual assault faced by them and the commission stands in solidarity with them in their struggle.”

The DCW said that while exposing these sexual predators is definitely an important step, the it believes that these men should be put behind the bars and prosecuted for the horrific crimes they have committed.

“The commission understands that going through the legal process is not easy. But the brave MeToo activists have already taken the first, hardest step of all - to talk about their ordeals openly. When they report these matters to the authorities through proper complaints, the chances of justice being delivered increase significantly,” the DCW statement read.

The commission has set up a separate email ID, metoodcw@gmail.com , for lodging such complaints.
