Relocation of Ravidas temple on the cards

Shrine was demolished on court orders

After the Delhi Development Authority recently demolished the Sant Guru Ravidas temple located on forest land in South Delhi on a fiat from the Supreme Court, Union Minister of State (independent charge) Hardeep Singh Puri said the government would look for a solution, including an alternate site for it.

Mr. Puri said on Tuesday that he met Delhi Lieutenant-Governor Anil Baijal, who also heads the DDA, to discuss various issues, including the issue of the temple.

“We, along with VC DDA, are determined to find a solution and identify an alternate site where the temple can be relocated...” the Minister said in a tweet.

Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala said on Tuesday that “the BJP had insulted the Ravidas community”.
