The condition of a 50-year-old woman, who was rescued from Rohini on Tuesday continues to be bad, said Swati Maliwal, chairperson of the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW).

“Her condition is still quite bad and we have to work out a long-term rehabilitation plan for her,” said Ms. Maliwal on Wednesday.

Held captive for 2 years

The woman, who was held captive by her brother for over two years, was rescued by the women’s commission on Tuesday.

The woman’s brother Sunil (54) and Annapurna (45) were arrested on Tuesday.

On receiving a complaint, the DCW along with the Delhi Police had rescued her from a house in Rohini.

“The condition of the woman was pathetic. She was starved and held captive on an open terrace, which had no room or toilet,” said a DCW official.
