Regularisation proposal to be sent to Cabinet soon: officials

The Union Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry’s proposal on granting ownership rights in unauthorised colonies of Delhi would be sent to the Cabinet soon, officials said.

The Cabinet note in question had been drafted and was being circulated within the government, a senior official said. The proposal is based on the report submitted by a committee chaired by L-G Anil Baijal to Housing and Urban Affairs Minister of State (Independent charge) Hardeep Singh Puri on June 10, officials said. The Cabinet had approved the setting up of the committee on March 7 to suggest the process of granting ownership and transfer rights to unauthorised colonies.

While Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Thursday that the Centre had responded “positively” to the Delhi government’s “proposal” regarding ownership rights sent in 2015, another senior Ministry official said the Centre’s proposal was based on the report of the committee.
