An accused wanted in connection with an alleged rape case has been arrested, the police said on Wednesday. The accused had been absconding for the past seven months.

A police officer said that a team from Subhash Place police station on Tuesday arrested the accused, identified as Daljeet, a resident of Uddham Singh Nagar in Uttarakhand.

Held from Uttarakhand

“The accused was arrested from Uttarakhand. He was absconding since the last seven months. Further investigation into the matter is under way,” the police officer added.

The officer also said that the accused and the victim used to work at the same shop. He had allegedly called the victim at his place on the pretext of some work and forced himself on her.

The woman had registered a complaint at Subhash Place police station after the incident. Daljeet was evading arrest since then, the police said.
