Bat and bird droppings are proving to be nightmare for the Qutab Minar, following which the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has started work on replacing its old wooden doors and windows, a senior official said on Sunday. The work is expected to be completed by the end of this month.

The 72.5-metre-high minaret, the country’s tallest, is getting refurbished after 50 years, as sal wood doors and window panels have become old, and cracks in them were allowing birds and bats to enter the inner sides of the towering monument..

The projected cost for the entire work is ₹8 lakh,” said Superintending Archaeologist, ASI (Delhi Circle), N.K. Pathak.
